Cycle Tourism: Why We Travel, Why We Ride

Instructor: Dan Shryock w/ GEARs and REI

Dan Shryock, a travel writer based in Salem will be presenting his cycling travel experiences, with a focus on Lucca, Italy as well as other closer to home adventures.

Dan Shryock, a travel writer based in Salem, writes about cycle tourism in Oregon, the Pacific Northwest, and Italy. He will talk about his adventures and why cycling enhances the travel experience. His presentation will focus on Lucca, Italy, a popular international destination for road cycling and some of his discoveries. He also has some ideas for single-day trips and week-long tours in some of Italy's best destinations. Dan's work is published in Cycle California! Magazine, Northwest Travel & Life, the Oregon Wine Press, and several tourism-based websites.

When not on his bike, Dan also writes for coffee and tea trade magazines. Upcoming cycling articles to be published in 2020 include riding up the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park, cycling via Amtrak, and climbing the hills of northern Tuscany. This talk is hosted in partnership with Greater Eugene Area Riders (GEARS), REI and Wildcraft.

Wildcraft will donate $1 from every cider sold to GEARs, whose mission is to promote bicycling for health, recreation, transportation, and fun for our community.

Seating begins at 6:30pm so you can get your seats and ciders in time for the 7:00pm presentation.
