The Packagers- Role: Bottle selection, Proper identification of Capping tools and seals, accuracy of fill height and communication with the pusher.
Details : The pushers and packagers must deliberate together.
IMPORTANT: Either juice from the previous heat is allowed to be used or blended! Meaning, you can use your competitors' juice that was eliminated in the previous heat to amplify or change the profile of what you would be presenting to the final panel. Deliberation, tasting and blending time is restricted to 3 minutes. Wherever you land in your process is what you got! Make sure you have enough of the goods put together! During this process you will consider the amount of juice needed to appropriately fill your selected bottles at even fills without excess.
During this 3 minutes the packagers will also determine the bottle shape, appropriate caps and capping tools necessary to complete the job. Please take note at check-in of the packaging options. This will help you during this time!
Once the deliberations are over - It is time to package your final product!
The packagers will have 60 seconds to properly package enough cider in their chosen package to present to the judges. There will be NO additional points awarded for finishing early.. Some styles just take more time. IMPORTANT: Your station MUST be wiped clean so leave room for that. QA can dock points
Point Process:
Once the package is filled. For every 2 OZ of leftover juice, the packagers will be docked one point. If the last bottle is underfilled, this counts as leftover juice and will be docked at point per every 2oz the same. If the final bottle is not filled to an acceptable level, you will be docked 1 point for waste of packaging.
Station must be wiped clean. If the packager has not completed the cleaning procedure within the 60 seconds they are docked 1 point.
YOU CAN ONLY LOSE POINTS IN THIS HEAT!

Keep in mind.. Know your panel! They may appreciate originality, accessibility and price point, flavor profile and packaging all a little differently. Ex. Good product in an inexpensive and modest package could win over a judge the same as a great product in a fancy bottle!

The story of the juice and overall package
The price point and volume and why
